They seem to keep switching back and forth between smerconish and the schnit(?) show. That's not good switching from one show to another. I'm sure I'll take heat for this, but they should put Joe and Huggy from the weekends, I think those 2 would be great at night. I'd love something local, but I guess syndication is cheap so that won't happen.
You think they'd pick up Marley Channing--er, Charley Manning--off the waiver wire? Not sure
if CM would want to do 4 hours though...they could run him 6-8 then put on Smerc or Schnitt

yeah, I agree, I also like Hank Morse. He is great. They should put him on weeknights like 6pm-9pm, or 6pm-10pm.

That would be Bower, Mike Bower. And I thought it sounded terrible. Bower has been doing extensive fill-in on TKK and I thought his show (solo) is/was great. But the two of them together is not good. Really brings out the worst in Bower, and Severin is even more of a pervy jerk as he is trying to one-up Bower. I think Jay feels threatened and thinks he has to out "edgy" Bower (who is edgy in his own way without going over the edge too far). The combo of the two of them is really hard to listen to.

That was asked on the show today and the answer was pretty vague. After listening on and off for a couple of days I am warming to the duo. I still think Bower blows Jay out of the water overall. He is just a much better lifestyle host while Jay is a one trick pony political guy. But Jay is starting to get it.
Bower being groomed for 6 pm slot maybe?

Where is WWZN in ratings? Even in freefall RKO and TKK (and WBZ, Rea at night) actually do get ratings. Maybe Santos doesn't subscribe. Greater has been doing talk at 96.9 since 99 and even with lower ratings they'll probably still stick with it, and even RKO may keep it up despite being
about one half of what they got not too long ago. Even XKS-AM shows up. Well, if they're
making enough money to stay alive, that's good for Revolution Boston. Maybe they're getting donations from rich pols ("Lovey, did you make out that check to Jeff Santos?" --Thurston Kerry III

Yes RR, a very small portion of the NPR and PBS budget comes from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting which is funded through taxes. However, given the hours of unique quality programming that NPR, PBS and their affiliates turn out day after day, it is one of the few things that I believe is a tremendous value to the taxpayers. I would much prefer a tiny amount of tax dollars go to Public Broadcasting than the billions and billions we are spending fighting two unjust wars .
RR do we really need to fund the US Postal Service ? In the age of Fed-X, UPS, Email, Fax and low cost private messenger services do we really need a government supported delivery service that is constantly in the red and whose employees earn bloated salaries and fat pensions?

NPR/PBS "fairness doctrine": a balance of liberal, liberal, and liberal programming...
USPS Funded by stamp sales, not taxpayer dollars, though certainly there's a big budget deficit in terms of retirements/ health care, which could be addressed with a simple postage increase (44 cent stamps are beyond a bargain). For the work I do I think I'm paid just the right amount; I can't speak on behalf of upper management in D.C., etc., though there have been RIFs (voluntary) at all levels.
Mail is essential; taxpayer funded radio (which has lots of competition) is not. In the past if we made a slight profit we were told to return it to the government.
btw unlike postal services in other countries we can't strike...and service has done well despite
such things as terrorism (2 postal workers who lost their lives/anthrax detection equipment) and
fuel increases. Judging by other countries' rates, I'm surprised the basic stamp isn't $1.50...
