The Arbitron quarterlies have just been published, and the 12-and-over number (all that are generally available to the public) don't bode well for 969 FM Talk. The digit to the left of the decimal point has dropped by one integer, and the number as a whole is down by half-a-percentage point. WTKK "management" has the internal breakdowns wherein they can see exactly who is dragging them down, but they're also in a terrific bind due to the Howie Carr issue. Don't be surprised if by the next book, 'TKK falls below WBOS and becomes the bedrock outlet of the G.M. cluster...and the most expensive to operate!

Perhaps, if TKK had not dumped Paula O'Connor they would not be in this predicament. She was live and local and knows this city.

Severin or even O'Reilly but I do like Laura Ingraham and Phil Hendrie and I'd certainly tune to them
if Howie managed to get on there.

Imus, I heard, did OK there for ratings and billed very well. But note that when Imus was dumped
from WEEI (for D&C, IIRC) WEEI's ratings took a big jump.

Maybe they should consider switching to a music format, possibly smooth jazz?
While I'm not really a jazz fan, this format would help balance the radio dial in this market.

You can view the Summer 2007 12+ ratings for Arbitron-subscribing non-comms here, though they may not be as recent as the published commercial ratings. (Click on Arbitron Data at the top, and make selections in the window that will appear).

I don't see an increase from Springtime there in the 12+ either, but I don't know how the 25-54's are doing.
