WTKK's new morning show - "Shaughness and Barni-han"?

How long before they are the new kings of morning drive time?

Just think how things would have been different if Barnicle bought the Boston Globe and Shaughnessy bought the Golden Star Restaurant in Oak Square, Newton?

or stockyard in brighton....

I agree that The shamed and disgraced Boston Globe can be had for a sack of beans. But I don't think Barnicle has a sack of beans. Barnicle is just as disgraced as the newspaper he used to work for. I, for one, LOVE it. The Boston Globe rues the day that Al Gore invented the Internet. It has caused an utter demise of their business while at the same time exposing them as puppets for the DNC. And all the anti-Boston Globe blogs are marvelous to behold! A constant reminder to them on bow-tie Boulevard that they are NOT 'esteemed' journalists any more. Ron Borges himself would LOVE to kill the Internet outright for the disgrace that slaughtered him.

ChrisNH, your jealousy and envy of Boston media members is obvious and sad. You need something positive in your life. How about a trip to the Polar Caves?

What do you do for a living? Anything we can listen to?

Doma, don't even bother asking. ChrisNH likes to hear himself yap. If he acquainted himself with some facts we might take him seriously. For now he's just looking for attention.

Jealosy? Envy? You have GOT to be kidding. There is NOTHING in Boston media to be 'jealous' or 'envious' about. The 'fact' is that The Boston Globe is a laughingstock and a shell of its former self. The Internet has sliced & diced The Boston Globe and its parent, The New York Times. The bleeding liberal bias at both papers has chased away numerous 'former' readers. Those, for you Boston media apologists, are FACTS.

Boston herald, Conservative yellow journalism, trails light years behind the Boston Globe.

Globe will continue to exist, Herald will expire at some point.

New Boston paper out today http://www.bostonnow.com

Conservatives complain and point the finger.

Chris is correct. The Globe is total rubbish, because most of the reporters are trust fund babies who've never worked a day in their lives and are completely out of touch with reality.

Don't be surprised if Mike Barnicle and Jack Welch and Jack Conners do purchase the Boston Globe. And look who is next door - Greater Media. What a hook up that would be.

It does my heart good to see Barnicle bury Howie Carr whose career is fading as Barnicle's is accelerating. Howie can't get beyond Sommerville mentally and that is where he will stay. His career has become as narrow as he is.

So, watch for Barnicle and Company to eventually purchase the Boston Globe and develop an even stronger affiliation with Greater Media and Peter Smyth.

Buying The Boston Globe means convincing the 'high & mighty' on Bowtie Boulevard that their newspaper is worth less than they think it is worth. The Globe will be a fire sale, yet the Unions there and all the other HACKS there who have a finger in that pie, are so certain that a sale will fetch a huge price. NEWS FUH-LASH....The Globe is on LIFE SUPPORT! It is INSIGNIFICANT outside of the choir it preaches to!!!

You are really out of touch. The Brahmins "Bow-Ties" [ read that the Taylor family ] have been gone for years. Sadly, gone. The New York Times are absentee owners and it shows.

Barnicle and Company would be a welcome addition to The Boston Globe. The current owners have little or no institutional memory of this area. That is something Barnicle and friends do have. The tie-in with Greater Media would make it a dynamite combo.

speaking of bias, which pops up in papers, talk radio, TV, etc...Bernie Goldberg is on Howie's show right now
and talking about "crazies on the left, wimps on the right" (publicizing new book). Says science should be taught in science class, not religion. Says Imus is a very nasty guy but his firing is "scary". Says liberals have "Fox
Derangement Syndrome"--accuse it of being totally right-wing but fail to notice they do have SOME liberals
on there like Geraldo...(yeah Fox leans right but they do have some from the left on!)

also said Imus did have some other racial/insensitive comments in the past, like calling Howie Kurtz a
"jewboy" but he added the Jewish community "has no Al Sharpton (to pressure someone to be fired),
thank God!"

btw in sales figures the Globe and the Herald each have lost readers. I think recently it was said they each
lost 4 per cent daily and on Sundays, Globe lost 8 per cent, Herald 4 per cent, etc. Globe has had to lay off
a bunch of people/take buyouts (Herald, too). Globe stooping to putting post-it notes on front page with
ads to try to make some money...

Jack & Suzie were at Haaaavard last week signing books, and Jack flat out stated that there was not going to be a deal for him and associates to buy the boring broadsheet. It was in one of the Boston papers, I think the Herald.

As for Barnicle not having money do you know who his wife is? Lets just say she makes Howie Carr look like a pauper.

Any deal to buy the NYT would be done with borowed money anyway. People with money use other peoples money to make more.

Of course you would make that kind of purchase with borrowed money! As to "Jack & Suzie" saying that there was not going to be a deal to buy the Globe that is a clear indication that negotiations are going on right now. Beyond that the story appeared in the Herald which is to newspapers what martial music is to music...
And yes, Anne Finnucane, Barnicle's wife is a top executive who is paid a top executive's salary. Carr's wife sells real estate. :(
