WTKP-FM 93.5 is moving

Omni Broadcasting Sports “93.5 The Ticket” WTKP Port St. Joe, FL has applied to boost from a Class C2 on 93.5 with 14.5kW at 204 meters to a C1 on 93.7 with 100kW at 127 meters. The upgrade will increase the station’s coverage of the Panama City market.

I wonder if WTKP-FM will mess up Dothan's 93.7 Newstalk and maybe reach Tallahassee or Big Bend when they upgrade thier singal to 100,000 watts? I do know that WFSU or WFSQ run on low power downtown tallahassee on 93.7 I live in Crawfordville so I can get these Panama City's stations. WPAP,WFLF,WFSY (Clear Channel)

Which sports brand does WTKP-FM carry? Yahoo Sports or CBS Sports Radio?

I know ESPN Radio is on AM-590 Panama City (Clear Channel)
and 106.5 WOCY-FM Eastpoint/Tallahassee is NBC Sports Radio

Per the FCC website, 93.7 WDBT Hartford, AL has an application to move north toward Montgomery (City of License: Hope Hull) and downgrading to Class A.

Yeah they got applications for 3 or 4 frequency or col moves in the Wiregrass in order to add another unneeded rimshot to the Montgomery market. I never though about what those Wiregrass moves could open up for the coastal stations.

Has Hale ever bought a station that he didn't move and/or upgrade?

the 93.7 in Tallahassee is unprotected....it is a translator....that translator iwill be almost useless if they build the new 100kw facility on 93.7

Will bumping up to 100kw with the antenna 75 meters lower from the same tower site really give Hale much better coverage of PCB? Or just throw more signal out over the Gulf?

Maybe I will get them here in Crawfordville. When they get ready for the move. I check them out and they are running Yahoo Sports Radio and they also listed of CBS Sports Radio too. I was wonder which one...
What the diffent between 94.5 WFLF Parker/Panama City and 93.5 Port St. Joe/Panama City

According to the FCC predicted coverage map on file, approximately 65% of the new (100kw) 60dBu service contour will cover land with the remaining approximate 35% covering the Gulf. Also, WTKP will have a greatly improved 60dBu service contour over Panama City and the immediate metro area. On paper, at least, this appears to be a WIN for WTKP.

MY question is, will this be directional or will Dothan's 93.7 have to be bumped to another frequency?
(and, why not just stay at 93.5 with the pwr boost?)

Hey Rob, Dothan's 93.7 is already planning to move north. Dothan has to complete their move north before Hale can make any moves in Panama City.

My question for the engineer in residency is does this application fully exploit all possibilities to maximize the value of WTKP? Could this be step one in a multi step plan for WTKP?

Poledo....there are 4 things that have to happen before they can move to 93.7......the application was actually filed prematurely and has a possibility of being returned/rejected by the FCC.....

So much for having a semi decent Coast to Coast AM affiliate down here.

They are on the Dothan station, which I won't be able to hear if this pulls through.

We don't know that. 93.7 in Dothan wants to move north to Montgomery so the news/talk format for Dothan will have to be moved to a new frequency... perhaps an FM that reaches FWB... 96.9 maybe?

Premature FCC rejection, huh, CCENG? If it increases to 100kw at that low tower height, will it even make it through the forest to the trees that matter?
