WTLM 1520 Dumps Fox Sports

Auburn/Opelika's WTLM AM 1520 has dropped their Fox Sports format and brought back ABC's Timeless Favorites. Apparently this has been for several months but I discovered the change while in the area on Wednesday. I may sound crazy, but It actually sounds kinda nice, turning up some Neil Diamond after the Football game :D

They'll soon have to dump Timeless. They will throw in the towel sometime in Feb. of 2010. Check out the posts on the soft AC/ EZ listening board. This also means WCRL 1570/95.3 will have to find something new to air.

if that's the case so will WTBF in Troy and WMFC in Monroeville, along with countless other stations (WROA Gulfport/Biloxi, ...)

There is not much of an option for stations carrying Timeless. Dial Global's America's Best Music is strictly Adult Standards, and I'm assuming Music of Your Life is also. T/F is not really standards anymore. It focuses on soft oldies, country crossovers, and relaxing music from the 60's/70's.

I'm sure WCRL can get by fine without T/F. They could always go back to Today's Best Country satellite feed.

Some stations are switching to Scott Shanon's True Oldies Channel.

That doesn't make a whole lot of sense, switching over to Timeless, knowing the plug is about to be pulled on the programming in a couple of months. I figure many of the Timeless affiliates will wind up going with oldies programming come Feb.

Spreaking of WROA, are they still on the air? I first heard WROA around 25 years ago, back when I was a teen. They were doing beautiful music back then. I know they switched to some type of adult standards programming several years ago, but last time I made it out the beach, I couldn't receive the station. Years ago, that 5 kw day signal WROA had would come in real well along the AL gulf coast. Not sure if they're off the air or just operating with vastly reduced power as a result of Hurricane Katrina.

Yes, WROA is back on the air, and my mistake - they are offering the "America's Best Music" program. They are still licensed to operate full time at 5000 watts, but currently I have heard they operate with 500 watts full time, which provides an adequate (at best) signal from just west of the Bay St. Louis bridge on US 90 (west) to the Ocean Springs/Gautier boundary line (east) during the day, and at best a 10 mile radius from the transmission site in north Gulfport at night.
