WTLS upgrade

This article in the Advertiser is just some Michael Butler "press release". This translator does not put a listenable signal into any part of Montgomery, in fact it is on 106.5 and one of the local Hagler tranlators is on 107.1. It would take quite a good radio to pick up 106.5 WTLS in the Montgomery area. Someone is dreaming, typical of a lot of radio broadcasters these days.
 
hmmm....radio-locator.com coverage map shows good signal into montgomery. based on coverage maps up here and what i can get here in dullman, i'd say they've got a market...
 
It's audible now as long as you stay away from the tower behind Eastdale Mall and the tower on Harrison Road. Not great but audible. Talk and 80's music is a bit weird.
 
"Audible" is not good enought to get any Montgomery listeners. The AM is also barely audible. Montgomery has enough AM/FM signals and does not need a barely audible signal from out in the sticks.
 
Not true. They have at least one listener, myself, especially during the locally-produced sports shows. With all their coverage of Tallassee Tiger sports as well, as often as a Montgomery team is an opponent, they will get some listenership. And, their new signal comes in stronger than the 95.5 translator signal of WRBZ because, with the distant exception of WKMX at 106.7, there isn't any bleedover from a neighboring frequency.

And, as I lived in northern Elmore County previously (north of Eclectic), any upgrade of "local" service would be appreciated.

It might have helped for the 'press release' to specifically mention FM 106.5, as few are likely to seek out the new station unless told about the frequency. Seriously, how many people really know they're listening to 'WLWI' or 'WZHT'? Most just care enough to know the difference between 92.3 and 105.7's musical content alone, and that's it.
