WTMA celebrates its 70th anniversary

Today, June 15, WTMA in Charleston (1250) celebrated their 70th anniversary as a radio station. They were the second radio station in Charleston, and are celebrating their 20th anniversary as a talk station, as they switched in June 1989.

To commemorate the occasion, WTMA held a reunion talk show, just like they did in 1999 and 2004. It was hosted by Bill Sharpe, and included many WTMA personalities, including Booby Nash and Terry Allen. The Rocky D show was also spent reminiscing.

Here is an article about the station's 70th anniversary:

Just Curious, did Bill Sharpe ever work at WTMA?

Yes, Bill Sharpe did work at WTMA in the newsroom in the '69-'70 time frame. I went to the station as his replacement in August of '70. Frank O. Hunt was the News director at the time.
I left 'TMA about a year later to come to WIS Radio.
