WTMA changes.

WTMA is removing Neal Bortz as of Monday and replacing him with Heraldo (Mispelled). God Cumulus has killed this station in less than a year. Crappy morning show, fired Rocky and now this.

I think if Kirkman does the right thing with the new 1340 the voice he might be able to finish off WTMA. If I were him I would see if Richard Todd was willing to come back to radio and also start a local based morning show. Once they start simal casting on 950 they will have a better signal reach than WTMA.
Wonder when the Game **** sports contract comes up for renewal?

1320 WISW in Columbia has added Geraldo, also. I'm sure that will help them crack a 1 share. ::)

That's Cumulus for ya...I really hope now they don't put WTMA on 96.9.

it does seem that Clear Channel and Cumulus have written the book on how to kill radio stations and drive listeners even more toward new media options. I am thankful for my smartphone as I will need it as of Monday to be able to listen to Neal

1340/950 already has the Clemson rights, so they have their sports covered. Cumulus was thinking about putting Gamecock football on FM this year (96.9). I don't know if they're doing it.

TMA said: We wish Boortz could stay, but it's out of our hands.

If you have a smartphone (Android or Apple) you can use that to stream radio. Great app called Tune In Radio.
And I am sure the folks at WTMA had nothing to do with removing Bortz that move was made from Cumulus HQ. Looks like Cumulus has removed Bortz on WFNC in Fayetteville NC also. I will add that for sometime now WFNC has had no local morning show at all. They pipe in Curtis Wright from WAAV Wilmington. I wonder if this is going to be the fate of the last local time slot on WTMA?

There maybe some local AM stations in South Carolina that do a good job so this comment has nothing to do with them. WTMA was a really good station with programing and DJ's put together really well. It showed that people would listen to AM radio if they had something they liked to hear and WTMA was good at it. Now it is torn apart peice by peice like most other big AM stations and almost nothing will be left very soon. This is suppose to help AM radio? the people in charge of this are lost really lost plain and simple.
