WTMC Move

Saw an FCC notice that WTMC-1380 applied to move to and change its city of license to Newport, operating with 250 watts daytime only non directional. The FCC denied the move. Wonder what happened with their application for the 5000 watts day and 3800 watts night thats been on the books for a while? And where could they put an antenna system in New Castle County (especially the NW end) with all of the towers it would need to make it work? Wonder how much longer the tower sharing deal with WILM will last now that CC has 1450.

I'm assuming that Clear Channel (WILM) is being paid for the usage so they might not have a problem with DelDot Radio piggy backing on their tower, but there again if WTMC is trying to move to Newport maybe Clear Channel has given them notice that they need to find another tower to use.

The WILM sale did not include the French Street "parking lot." Clear Channel continued to pay rent to the Hawkins' until they moved out a few weeks ago. Did the deal include the transmitter site real estate or not? I had understood the $4 million bought the license only.

I was under the impression that the transmitter site would stay with WILM. It was only the physical studio at 12th and French Streets that wouldn't go and was being leased until WILM moved to a new location.

I guess WWTX 1290 and 1450 WILM both could piggy back on 1290's tower though. It's just North of the city off I-495, would that cause issues with other 1450's in the region? I guess that would also cut back WILM's signal on the Southside of the city, especially at night.

I'm sure now that the building at 12th and French Sts is empty EB will bulldoze that building down and add to the parking lot space he's already renting out as both you and I can attest, that building's time has passed years ago and a quick burial would be merciful.

Unless with all the mold, sewage, asbestos and who-know-what toxic crud, the EPA won't let him bury it. Contamination of the water table and all that. Maybe DuPont can cart the whole mess across the river and put it in tanks with the nerve gas. It looks like they won't get a second chance to sell the land to BofA (MBNA). As it stands, it's a small parcel of land and not big enough for much - not even parking. A developer would probably want the entire block.
