WTMJ Shocker!

Late Monday (Aug. 28) Rick Belcher, the longtime VP of operations at Journal news/talk WTMJ/Milwaukee and AC clustermate WKTI, has exited in the wake of a shake-up that eliminated his position.

Journal/Milwaukee SVP/GM Jon Schweitzer told the Milwaukee Business Journal the move was part of a restructuring designed to remove a layer of management. He also told the newspaper that he is now seeking a program director for WTMJ, a role which had been part of Belcher's responsibilities.

Belcher had been with Journal/Milwaukee for the past eight years.

That is a shocker indeed! I'm guessing that if Rick stayed on, he would have had to take a pay cut. That is too bad for him. I wish him all the best. I am guessing that this might delay the search for Tom Carr's replacement. If I were to make a guess as to whom it would be, I would have to go with Joe LaBarbera who recently refused the recent contract offer to remain at Fox 6. He has experience doing radio traffic at the former WEZW where he did the morning show with Dick Alpert and Phil Cianciola who both work for TMJ. We'll see what happens.
