with the All Info-mercial channel! Yes, a channel looping all infomercials.
No ID's no network name.

Yes, this is much better. (Sarcasim!)

(This is on Comcast - Springfield, at the bequest of WGGB-TV)

> Could this be the one refered to as "P.I.N.?" It certainly cheapens the overall product doesn't it? Is it your opinion that this is kind of a cheap shot on the part of Sinclair, given their obvious rivalry with cross-town LIN-owned WWLP, or merely an "Honest"(Not to mention very rightful) decision on their part?(I am referring to the exercising of exclusivity rights here only)

I think PIN usually has their bug on the upper right of the screen during infomercials, and, very likely, identify themselves between them.

There's also "Access", which has no identifying bugs, but IDs themselves between infomercials.

Or, maybe Comcast has some infomercials they want to burn off, so they shove them into WTNH's slot.

I'm on the Comcast-Westfield system and there is a bug identifying the "Celebrity Shopping Network" during an infomercial for "Dr. Ho's Massage System". I don't know much about the shopping networks so that bug just may be for this specific product/infomercial rather than a real "network"? I'll have to check in periodically.

Chances are that could be a fake network, as I never heard of it before.

One of the common tricks for infomercials is to make them look like real programs or channels. If they can steal Larry King's set for a get-rich-quick infomercial, they can do anything.

I know that it's all "legal", but the cable rules - as they stand now - simply stink! The customer and his/her wishes are the absolute last consideration when it comes to channel selection, pricing, etc. The sad thing is that it was OUR representatives in Congress who voted in the rules to allow for such ridiculousness. Unfortunately, the network and cable bigwigs get the access to the politicos that we "commoners" will never enjoy. And, this is the result.

As for Comcast, this move shows a complete lack of care for the customer. Bad enough that an easily received on-air network affiliate gets whacked (something that they cannot control) - but, instead of replacing it with something of value they choose another crap infomercial channel!

It's greed, pure and simple. Moving a digital tier channel to analog would cost a few cents. We can't have that. And, they probably get a kickback for showing that informercial/shopping crap. It's the same reason why we all get QVC in Eastern New England - despite having at least 3 other OTA shopping channels! The space COULD be used for something like BBC America, Discovery Science or M2. But no, we must have more damn shopping. Shop at Home, Shop NBC and whatever the third is (HSN, I think - I never watch) aren't enough.

Sorry to hear that you are the latest to be rear ended by your cable provider. In my case in NH, as of the 1st of the year we get no new channels but a price increase that is more than double the rate of inflation. It all makes Direct TV and Dish look better and better....
