WTNH Website

WTNH, Channel 8 has also launched a new-look to their website. Any thoughts? I think it looks pertty awful. Very bland, tough to navigate and very slow.

You're right, it's very plain looking. It almost resembles the new NBCConnecticut.com website, which also lacks color and creativity. And they were both unveiled within a few days of each other.

In the website banner logo, it says "beta WTNH.com" so I'm sure you'll see more improvements coming soon (let's hope).

I do think the new site is better organized. The old site was almost unbearable to look at with advertisements, scrolls, video commercials, news polls, maps, schedules, blog threads, etc., all mixed in the same area. It was a strain on the eyes and the brain. I hope they try harder this time around to keep the flashy and jumpy ads in a separate section toward the column.

On the contrary to what you said, I find the new website faster on my end. The old site crawled at a snail's pace, especially their blog area which I frequented once or twice before being frustrated away. So for me, it's an improvement in terms of speed.

I don't know about you guys, but I rarely check the TV station websites anyway. The only time I do is for breaking news, severe weather, winter weather storms and closings. Otherwise, I'm only concerned about what's happening locally, and the majority of us all probably get a lot more local coverage by checking out the local newspapers online or in print. The TV stations just cannot compare.
