WTNK/Hartsville Flips to "Fun Radio"

I'm listening to the 2 watt AM since the translator doesn't reach Lafayette. Surprised to hear nice sounding voicers for the new "Fun Radio 93.5" with a mention of the AM. I've only been listening to it for just 20 minutes, but I was kind of surprised that I heard pop music on 1090 at 5:30 in the morning. So far, I'm hearing stuff from the 60s to the early 80s. The website I was able to pull from noise doesn't seem to work....yet. This must have been very recent. The station when playing country music sounded great. It ranks far up on my list of great sounding AMs. I'll be able to hear it better once they go to day power.

EDIT to add:

I just heard something from 2000.

They flipped at noon on Christmas Day, just as the online article from the Hartsville Vidette said it would happen. Maybe the website will be up Monday or sometime before New Year's Day. When that happens, WTNK will have completely cloned the Arab, Alabama station on 92.7 that the new owner already runs.

The domain is parked for now, so it may go live on January 4th when the morning show starts.

New owner? I didn't see any paperwork on a transfer or sale...yet.

The audio isn't all that great on the AM. No bass and treble rolled off sharply at 6 kc.

Glad you are enjoying the new Funradio 93.5FM/1090AM.
I am the Director of Operations, IT, and one of the "new voices" you hear on the station.
The website should be up and running in the next 24 hours which will have the "live stream". Also we have apps for both iPhone and android which should also be available in the next few days.
Very soon you will be able to pick up the FM station loud and clear in Lafayette, as we are moving the tower up on the hill, and increasing the length of the tower also.
I very much appreciate your feedback on the new sound!
Most of the music you hear will be from 1965-1992..... With a few exceptions!

Looking forward to what you have planned. I've been listening a lot lately and love the programming. Nice use of old sounding jingles. Sweet!

I wish you the best on this. In a sea of country music stations, this is an oasis.

Heard "Fun 92.7" just now. :)

Good luck with the new adventure. As a former employee there, I'm happy for Lisa. I usede to middays and afternoon drive there starting as an intern in late summer 2009, and stayed 2 months as an employee in Early 2010, before leaving to board op overnights at WTN. Please feel free to elaborate on the changes made, as Jerry said that there was now new software in use. Also, if you need a fill in anytime, as I previously mentioned, I have worked on WTNK before. I can be reached at 615-972-4262. Thanks and God bless, Robert Wilson
