I know from WTOB's TOH ID that 980 simulcasts with FM translators at 96.3 and 96.7 (as well as 1470 AM in Greensboro). Both 96.3 and 96.7 cover virtually the same area, with 96.3 having a marginally better signal. But aside from the TOH, they mention only 96.7.
What I'm wondering are: 1) Why do they simulcast on 2 signals covering the same area?, and 2) Why don't they mention 96.3?
My guess is they plan to do something separate with 96.3 at some point and since it won't have an AM, they want to use the slightly better signal.
Any other ideas?
