WTOH becomes Browns affiliate

Hugh Hewitt is surely never going to shut-up about it.

Are the Steelers going to get another station in Cbus? I thought that was outside of their territory.

They've been on here for most of the past 10 years, so it wouldn't surprise me if they do find another station. There are enough Steeler fans in central Ohio (mostly transplants from eastern Ohio or just your natural contrarians, a la Michigan fans) to make them a clear third team behind the Browns and Bengals, but I wouldn't say they have many more fans than the nationally popular teams you see everywhere (i.e. Dallas and Green Bay). Go 40-50 miles east and that changes dramatically.
As for who that other station would be, maybe 103.9 again? Can't see either 610, 1460 or 97.1 picking them up.

Lots of Pittsburgh expats in Columbus. I was one of them.
The Steelers also have a station in the Toledo area. I think because Roethlisberger
is from that part of the state.

I think that is part of it. My years at the U of Toledo coincided with the Browns being gone, and one of the stations there picked up the Steelers in around '97 or '98. It was my first exposure to Myron Cope :) There were a lot of Steelers fans up there back then and I am sure Big Ben hasn't hurt that following one bit.

When I lived in Delaware County in the mid-90's it was before NFL Sunday Ticket. The Bengals were gawd-awful and I got stuck with their game every week. At the time WKBN in Youngstown carried the Steelers. I listened on a GE Superadio with a longwire antenna run out the upstairs window of my townhouse.
