WTRB, Ripley?

Never heard of this station (or town for that matter), 'til I saw this.

Silent Notifications
▪ WTRB Inc.’s 1570 WTRB Ripley TN (Financial reasons)

Even though the station is silent, looks like their website is still up, gonna go check it out.

If memory serves, Ripley is some 55 or so miles northeast of Memphis.

It's not far from Memphis, and WTRB used to have an FM signal at 94.9. It occasionally drifted down to Memphis when I went to college there, though, in my dorm, I usually found it fighting with KOLL "Cool 95" out of Little Rock on my stereo.

K-Love ended up buying the FM and moving it out of market. Looks like it's now being run by the same people who operate KBOA 1540.

Gotcha, directions coming from a blind man LOL. Right there with ya, thanks, I mean it. I noticed the 731 area code and something else on the site (can't remember what right now) clued me in. There Program Log was skimpy, only Weekdays showed and that, partly. Looks like their main program was The Animal Shelter Report. I did get a kick out of the shelter's phone number, pets LOL.

Thanks for the info. Looks like it's not being run, right now. I'll have to look into the other station you mentioned, the one the people also run.

It is owned by a friend of mine, Palmer Johnson, who also owns KDEX in Dexter, MO.. Ripley is economically depressed, as are many towns in West Tennessee. Palmer lives in Missouri, and the station is suffering from the same fate as many AMs in small markets do. It's simply a fact that revenues are probably down, and the operating costs outweigh the revenue. I have't talked to Palmer to confirm this, but living less than 40 minutes away, I can surmise that is probably the case.

The FM Kent referenced is WGCQ 98.7, which was moved to Hayti, MO by then-EMF, and was eventually sold to Pollack Broadcasting who does own KBOA A/F and simulcasts KBOA.

Thanks, I saw his name on the website. Please don't think I was trying to say anything bad about them, just observing from this side of the screen, armchair, I know. I totally understand about economically-depressed. If your outflow exceeds your income, your upkeep will be your downfall. Twenty-eight years ago at the end of this month, the LORD allowed me to connect with a station in my old neck of the woods, which had just come under new ownership. Long story short, after a couple months, I started working there and did so, for a little over six years, my dream job with it's share of nightmares. Despite said nightmares, I believe the LORD blessed our efforts, allowing the station to have a good following in the area and make a difference therein, including being a regional affiliate for several churches/ministries all over the southeast. It's been a long time and the area has changed. I love the station, the folk who work there and the area and pray the station will be there for years to come, to continue ministering to the communities they serve and provide an outlet for churches/ministries, like they did when I was blessed to be there.

Grace Broadcasting was looking at it, I think. Apparently nothing came of it.

I've seen that name up here before, only place I've seen it though. Hate to see local stations go dark, maybe somebody'll pick it up.
