1520 Radio Asia LLC filed an STA to operate at 2450 watts instead of the normal 17kw daytime-only. A water-logged transmitter and aging final tube are to blame. The station's paperwork notes they are acquiring a solid state transmitter.
WTRI has often been weeks with only an open carrier on AM while having the audio still running on the FM translator W269DH Leesburg. When the AM has audio, it is often undermodulated.
The AM frequency has always been a disaster with strong co-channel WWKB Buffalo. Reception around sumrise/sunset has never been good, despite the power and DA upgrade a few years ago. (WTRI may have pre-sunrise authorization but I could not find the paperwork.)
