For those of you hard core oldies fans who live north of Milwaukee( Sheboygan to Green Bay), try giving WTRW-1590 a listen. They are now billing themselves as a "true oldies station". They have heavy doses of late 50s and early 60s top-40,but unlike a "real oldies" format they also play a lot of great stuff from the mid 60s to the early 70s. They sound a lot like the WEMP of the mid-80s.
WOGB 103.1 out of Green Bay seems to be adding more 50s stuff to their playlist also.( hats off to Dan Marcus for that). They have a voice over with something like- here's another song from the roots of rock n roll-( not a direct quote) and go into Chuck Berry or Jerry Lee Lewis etc... Sounds GREAT!!!
Reading the post about WRIT below this one is sad in a way since Milwaukee really doesn't have an oldies outlet anymore.( they haven't for awhile I guess).Cheer up WBOG-1470 out of Sparta plays great stuff and they stream. Just go to oldies1470.com and enjoy.Of course there is always satellite radio if you want to pay for your oldies fix.
I guess my point here is there are still some great oldies stations out there, just wish Milwaukee had one. I guess WOKY comes the closest right now. I know R&R has WRIT billed as oldies, but we all know thats not really true anymore.
