Was listening to 1590 today... Their new calls are WGBW, they are still running the "true oldies" format.
Does anyone know why they switched calls??? TRW was Two Rivers WI..... so I am assuming GBW is Green BAY???? Are they moving the station north maybe???

Mark has been working through the process of moving the license to Denmark, WI for quite a while now.

Perhaps it's coming close to fruition.

(I think I remember seeing a for sale sign on his studio building in Two Rivers.)

You're right. On both accounts.

We applied for WGBW, as it was being given up
by a Low Power FM in Florida, and didn't want
to lose it to someone else.

We sure didn't expect the FCC to grant it so
quickly, and expect us to change in 20 minutes
notice...but that's exactly what happened.

They're training someone new at the Call Letter
desk, and they push the right button, and whammo!

We're still scrambling. Got some liners on the air
yesterday, Community Announcements re-done,
but I'm sure CNN's promos will be stuck in the
system for a few more days.

We've been told our Construction Permit for Denmark
is imminent by insiders at the FCC, so we're not
worried.

(Possibility that WTRW might get snapped up by
Radioactive LLC, owners of a CP at Two Rivers, too... who knows?)

Considering all the water-related construction down there, you ought to call yourselves "The Oldies Pipeline."

How much stronger are you going to be in the Green Bay market?

We've asked for 10kw days, and 200 watts nights.

It's hoped we'll eventually land up with 350 watts at night from the
same daytime tower site.

This whole application process was very interesting. There's a 1590
applicant at Big Rapids, MI which messed us all up, but they decided
to dismiss their application for a payment from another party, so
we've had to apply for 200 watts at night to protect their application,
which no longer exists...but it hasn't been formally dismissed yet
by the FCC.

10kw days into Green Bay will produce about 9 mV/m over the entire city
all the way up to Howard, so it will be much more than 'city grade'. The
tower site I selected is a ground conductivity of 15, and north of Denmark
it drops to an 8, so I'm hoping for the best...

Dr. Bear, it's almost been a year since I read a story you wrote at a funeral
at Sturgeon Bay.... how time's fun, when you're having flies!
