WTSH-FM South 107 Performance...

How do you think WTSH South 107 is sounding? I've been listening lately and overall, everything sounds pretty clean and solid, except for Moby's show (which sounds like an unprofessional, low quality mess), but the programming staff at TSH really has no control over any of that, they just play what comes down the satellite feed. In Moby's defense though, he has built a considerably strong network and has a pretty good following... and I have began to hear network spots lately... I heard he was picked up from United Stations.

Mid-days on TSH are decent, although it does sound as if Rick Bradley is sometimes a little unprepared during his lunch show, 12-1. His song will seg and his "cafe background" bed will play for up to 10 seconds before you hear him begin to talk. And I wonder if he is tracked sometimes. Overall, it sounds pretty good though and rick has a pretty good sounding voice.

The afternoon show became a lot cleaner and played more music after Kristen left and seems to be doing pretty good. I think she got canned because of budget cuts... (Kristen is now on Kicks 101.5 on Saturday nights, from what I've heard) I have heard Kevin Daniels talking to and making reference to a guy that he calls his producer, but is he actually his producer or is that just a clever way for Kevin to blame his mistakes on someone else? I rarely ever hear him talk to this "producer." And also, who is "Karli" that does a couple of features every afternoon?? Never heard her on TSH before :-\

Recently, TSH dropped Whitney Allen... I didn't see that one coming. Now they've got a guy named J.R. doing nights, and it sounds local with drops and jingles. I do wonder if it is live or voice tracked though. I think it may be live because I hear him reference requests all the time, but I guess that could be fake too :p

12-5a with Blair Garner always sounds good, no questions there.

I heard too that there was an MBO on South 107 and it's sister stations. Or was South 107 part of an LMA?

I'm also anxious to see how TSH performs after they get their 100k upgrade... that should be interesting.

Any Thoughts?

Yeah, an upgraded syndication deal, 3:00 of network spots per hour, big contests and giveaways... not bad for a "low quality" and "unprofessional" show, huh?

P.S. Props to Kristen for landing on her feet, even if it's only a weekend gig.

Kristen Charles is working under the psyedonym KC Charles, works Saturday's 7-midnight on Kicks 101.5

Karli is half of the morning show on their sister cluster station WQTU Q102.

Well, yes Moby has been successful... but the sound quality of his show is horrible. It sounds like it's running at a very low bit rate and it sounds like he has no mic processing. If he would just make a few investments his show would sound SO MUCH BETTER. I personally don't have a problem with Moby's content, it just sounds unprofesional because of the quality. It sounds like he is inside a tin can...

And yes maybe Kristen will move up at "Kicks Country!" I guess we will all see...

Moby is literally doing MitM out of his living room (in Roswell?), last I heard. Not bad considering, but it is what it is and could stand some improvement.

I don't remember all the details, but a couple (not all) of Southern Broadcasting's Rome cluster stations were bought by management (MBO). IIRC 107.1 wasn't one of them but that MBO group is LMAing it from Southern. Southern is probably waiting on the upgrade to see if they can get more for it afterwards.

Yeah I'm anxious to see how South 107 will do when sort of competing with the big boys in Atlanta. Although they won't penetrate completely into Atlanta, it should penetrate good on the north side of Atlanta.

1. Moby's show is indeed based in Roswell, GA.

2. Isn't the name of the group that currently owns 107.1 something like "Woman's World"?

That's just the name of the license holding company, like "WNNX LICO" instead of Cumulus for Rock 100.5 and Q100, or the myriad of CC stations still listed as being owned by Citicasters, AMFM, or Jacor.

When is South 107 going 100,000 watts. Does anybody have an ETA?
