WTSL's Calls to WEEY... WEEI connection?

Fybush notes that WTSL 1400 has changed calls to WEEY. I can't find a website for them but as far as
I know they run talk; however, interesting choice of call letters. Might they poss. do a simulcast of
WEEI? I believe WEEY 1400 is owned by Great Eastern, but Entercom has hinted they'd like to find
some stations to simulcast WEEI in northern New England, and...interesting call letter choice
(Entercom does have simulcasts for its own stations with call letters like WVEI, for example..._similar_
to WEEI)

58 years with the WTSL call letters.

I guess UV Radio doesn't give a shit about heritage.

Nichole Romano and Kevin O'Neill, you're approaching your tenure. You better beware. A gold-plated watch and a kick in the ass out the door is next for you too!

;D

I just came across this website http://www.wtsl.com/ which says The Pulse WTSL, AM1400 FM94.3. This is a new site, right? Has 94.3 become one of the new FM translators for AM stations? This still doesn't explain the call change to WEEY.

Same exact incomplete, broken linked website that was occupying www.pulse939.com for a few months...just changed the domain.

Funny how it seems more important to put sponsors on the site, than to update the site itself.

Oh, and by the way, all the links to the clients pages are, and have been broken since these websites went live months ago.

I hope they're just getting these for added value.......zero.

Meanwhile, poor Dave Cooper's been doing mornings at 92.3 for how long? The link on the WGXL jock page for the morning show still links to Scot Antonovich's page!!

And I ask again, who is Leeza Gibson?

Let's hope the Great Eastern websites don't become a laughingstock a la WGMT in Lyndonville: http://www.kingcon.com/WGMT/

Hmmmmmmmm, call letter change to WEEY, that sounds like, uh.....WEEI, WEVI, WEEI-FM, WPPY,whatever.
If I were the betting type, I would say they are very close to becoming part of the the number 1 sports programming
in America.

The WEEI Network. ;)

I realize that, it's pretty obvious. I'm just wondering why they would come up with a new website/logo with WTSL mentioned, if they were just going to change to WEEI days/weeks later. Can anyone verify what they are actually doing on the air right now, and what they are calling themselves?

Hey. New to this forum and am a first-time poster. I happen to live in the good ol' Downer..oops...I mean UPPER valley and have to listen to the crappy radio in the region. After reading the news that WTSL changed it's call letters to WEEY, on monday I tuned in for about an hour to see if the idiots at UpperValleyRadio were still running the WTSL promo tag. They are not...it's dead air for about 10 seconds before some piss-poor local commercial kicks in (i.e JAS Autobody, Digbys, Eastman). I could go on for ever abobut the lack of intelligence at UpperValleyRadio...but that's another post some other time.

It wouldn't surprise me one morning if WEEI programing is suddenly running. UVR is a group that without notice, dropped The Morning BUZZ for that hideous "Upper Valley Wakeup" Show and when the PULSE talk format wasn't working, once again, switched the switch to the MAXX classic hits format without any advance notice.

Another sign of impending WTSL death is when UVR moved the only local program they had on TSL (the terri dudley show) from 9-10 am weekdays to Sunday Mornings 8-10am. Who really listens to the radio sunday mornings? This is the deadzone slot in programing. Even the announcement of her show moving sounded like a euelogy, where she was thanking all of her listerners over the years.

Anyways, I will listen to WEEI programing because it has to better than ESPN radio where it's more Ad's and PSA's than talk.

I have a hard time believing WEEI would want their product on such poor signals. WTSL after dark is sometimes unlistenable on portions of 12A in West Lebanon, and unless you live in Lebanon, Hanover, Norwich or Hartford proper, 94.3 isn't gonna do you much good. But to their credit, Jeff and Wally could sell ice to an eskimo, or pellet stoves in a tropical jungle. (Preferably from Upper Valley Stove Co.)

And if Downer Valley hails from Downer's Corners, there's no way you'll be hearing either signal!

Let's hope this works out better than when the former Vox team dropped the Yankees on The Score in favor of the NH Fishercats. I'm sure Pamal was grateful after that move.

The greatest number of listeners and businesses are in the Lebanon, Hanover, Norwich, Hartford area.
That pretty much covers the Upper Valley.
And a tip of the Red Sox cap to Jeff and Wally for selling ice to the north and heat to the south. ;D

At the start of this thread I noted the change of call letters for WTSL 1400 to WEEY and wondered if
there was a WEEI connection. Well, there is...at 93.5...

radio-info.com front page:
>>And in Keene, down in the southwest corner of New Hampshire, Great Eastern Radio/Vox is convering its 93.5 facility to "WEEY."
According to Wikipedia 1400 is now WTSL again.
Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WTSM
Mentions the CP to change 93.5's COL to Swanzey NH with a change of ERP and HAAT. "When WTSM completes its move (on or around September 15, 2008), the station will drop the WXXK (country) simulcast in favor of sports talk provided by Boston's WEEI, under the call letters WEEY."

Acc. to radio-locator they are currently off air but scroll to the bottom to see the CP
http://radio-locator.com/cgi-bin/finder?call=WTSM&x=0&y=0&sr=Y&s=C

Presumably this means WKBK will be losing the Red Sox after this season?

you have the OZ in the NEK competing with magic.. :D

Casey's Hot 20? Really? It hasn't been Casey's Hot 20 in 10 years.

Then again, they're Vermonters and they're radio people. Can't expect much in the way of intelligence.
