WTSP-TV's 40th Anniversary passes with little notice

Nobody wants a TV station on low band VHF, especially in Florida. Have you ever seen what lightning anywhere within 100 miles does to channel 3? Really tears it up. 7 and up are where they are all going. There's no stigma with a UHF signal anymore, in fact, anything below 50 is quite desirable. They operate with millions of ERP watts and have plenty of power

Does anybody really care about VHF vs UHF anymore ??? most have satelite or cable...those using rabbit ears might notice a difference.. and I remember having to use a UHF converter to get the old WSUN ch 38...and using an FM converter to get FM radio signals...but now, even with a decent outside antenna with a rotor.. I don't notice much difference in West Bradenton...my new place in a deed restricted community won't even allow a tower...

later...

enjoy the day...

THAT'S why WTSP didn't want to mention that it was thier 40th anniversary..It's that dad-blasted number...40!

They were scared that it might confuse the great unwashed

Same thing..we'll never hear about WTSP's 44th anniversary, or 62nd either.

Or any station's 44th or 62nd, for that matter -- most stations tend to celebrate during certain ages that end with 0 or 5.
