WTSS: Inquiry -

on wtss, aka star102..they aired the fcc-required
(verbatim) legal stuff..about licensce renewal..

is it a *wam-bam thank u, uncle sam* -Here is another
number of years of mind-benders, and catchy jingles....

or, is there any(SERIOUS) threat to an outside (unlikely) chance wtss
would no longer be "property" of entercomm buffalo?
(either the competition: thinking cbsRadio/wjye) or a specific
'special interest' group making enough noise..to have wtss
surrender its licensce.

-and, if so, how long would it take to re-assign that frequencey
to the righteous new owners..seeking the best interest for
community ?

i doubt it too, wtss will have no trouble, but this is a radio forum,
i thought this is the best place to ponder such a question.

> A Lot of stations are renewing there licenses this year. Someone would have to report a serious infraction for the FCC to not grant the renewel, which I doubt WTSS has done.

This is license renewal year for stations in New York state. The "filing announcements," as they are called, are not window dressing. The FCC is quite serious about them requires the announcements to air correctly. Heaven help the traffic director or PD who doesn't.

As to Entercom's licenses, this year above all previous years will be taken extra carefully and seriously. You can bet the lawyers' billable hours will be worth every penny. If you ever wanted to file a competing application, I'd suggest you have plenty of money and have good counsel in Washington.

An activist broadcast-communications program at a university or college (Syracuse, Ithaca college, Northwestern) might put their knowledge and energy to work on (mock-up) a project like this (sort of like moot court), if for no other reason than to learn about the laws and the legal process. How many Communications majors go on to take the L-SATs?

So then, what you're saying is students in Broadcasting Law 309 should undertake to challenge a radio station's license renewal as a matter of course, three credit hours? Please!
