WTSX

The format is the same, but they are now called "Pocono 96.7" at the top of the hour I only heard the call letters of WTSX. I can't pick up WDLC and it's 107.7 translator so I'm not sure if they are still simulcasting 96.7

I have been listening to WTSX for the past few hours and I hope the best is yet to come. The music favors oldies A/C with little excitement and "borrowed" voice overs from The Fox (previous owners.) I am hoping a bigger splash with a better sound on 96.7 once they complete their transition. If I was owner, a couple of billboards on I-80 near Stroudsburg and advertisement in the Pocono Record would be the order of the day for me. Also really good promotion to get my station's name publicly known. I would be ready to kick butt in the Arbitron with the spring book. First impressions are lasting impressions when you are the "new kid on the block!"

Maybe it's just me, but I don't like too many songs from 80s. The 60s and 70s hits blend well with some from the 80s (like 40% 60s, 40% 70s, and 20% 80s) but how many times am I going to hear "Dirty Laundry" and "When Doves Cry" (which I can't stand both songs btw). Besides that, WTSX is the new station I listen to.

I agree with the advertisement but the single in Stroudsburg/East Stroudsburg is not as good as it is in Mt. Pocono. I am in the Poconos daily and find this to be mostly true for I 80 from Main Street exit in Stroudsburg to a little above the Swiftwater exit. In East Stroudsburg Borough the signal is rather good.

My question is: What location and how much power is WTSX operating? There are 2 scenarios according to radio locator. If they are operating at less power with plans to increase power soon, the station will have a stronger signal into those areas as mentioned.

That's a good question. I think they are operating at the 3,000 watts with increased height, as I was able to pick them up all the way in Allentown. Funny thing is today they're going to be in the Saint Patrick's Day Parade in Stroudsburg. 935 SBG is supposed to be also. Imagine how funny it would be if WTSX was behind them in the parade. No doubt in my mind they will be getting some listeners from WSBG in the next coming weeks.

LOL! I think the gang @ WSBG would be totally shocked if that happened! They are probably shocked anyway to know that they now have competition at their backdoor (since the parade is long over! LOL!) For WTSX, that was a good start promoting their station in the parade today. And for WSBG, they better wake up and stop sounding like someone has rained on their parade!
Too many radio people are looking for jobs and in my opinion, WSBG is long overdue!

So two months later "Pocono 96.7" seems to be excellent. Heard some really good forgotten songs listening to them (Animals, Lovin' Spoonful, ect). They had an article in the Pocono Record and all of the comments on the website were good along with bad mouthing the other radio stations like The Hawk. Recently, they decided to air Dick Clark's syndicated Rock, Roll, and Remember show. I really hope this gig works out for the LOCAL owners. I stopped listening to The Hawk ever since they came on and will not go back.
