Someone was telling me today that WTTH moved to the WMID tower and WPUR moved to the WFPG tower, I always thought TTH was on a condo building in AC and PUR was on the TAJ....is these moves true....if they can do it, why can't JSE move to a better location to gain more coverage...

WPUR's main transmitter site moved to the WFPG tower on December 21, 2007.

That move could NOT have been made if WSNJ-FM was still on the air, and
hadn't vacated 107.7 and moved to 107.9, licensed to Pennsauken.
When it was first licensed to Pennsauken, we were able to go non-directional
from the Taj Mahal, which was a great signal improvement from about 1400
watts toward Bridgeton to 13,500. It is now 25,000 non-directional at
a lower height, but the signal is as good as it ever was.

The Taj Mahal is now a licensed backup site for WPUR, WFPG, WENJ-FM and WSJO.

WTTH is at the original site where it has always been on the Ocean Club Condos.

WJSE is licensed to Petersburg, NJ at 3000 watts, and has almost zero tolerance
in spacing in any direction, due to co-channel and adjacent channel limitations.

Is the Taj Mahal really the tallest casino hotel in AC?

Not any more, currently it's Harrah's. In a few weeks the new Revel casino hotel.

Currently, viewing from 25 miles away in Ship Bottom, Ocean County, Harrah's dwarfs both Revel & the Taj Mahal.

Revel (once finished) - 710 ft
Harrah's Waterfront - 524 ft
Chairman's Tower @ Taj - 469 ft
Water Club @ Borgata - 456 ft
Borgata - 430 ft
Taj Mahal - 430 ft
Wind turbines by WFPG tower - 397 ft
Bally's - 374 ft

I wonder if on a clear day, you could see the Empire State Building from the top of a casino in AC. If it weren't for the local stations, the top of a casino would be a great place to DX.

The ESB is 99 miles from Atlantic City... no chance.

And the top of a casino wouldn't be a good place to DX -- anywhere in downtown Atlantic City, you have to deal with all of the local stations (95.1, 96.1, 96.9, 103.7, 107.3, etc.), the adjacent interference, and the combined spurs all over the dial, not to mention the handful of LPTVs, etc.

If Atlantic City was around Keansburg/Keyport/Sandy Hook, then yea, you got the ESB, lower Manhattan, and the Verrazano Bridge view.

Almost.

There's a neat little naval calculator that calculates line of sight around the curvature of the earth: http://www.naval.com/sight/index.htm

The Empire State Building is 1454 ft above mean sea level. Revel will be 720 ft AMSL. Those two heights yield a line of sight distance of 92 miles.

If Revel was going to be 1000 feet tall it could be seen.

If the Freedom tower at the World Trade Center is ever built, the very top of it could be seen from Revel on an unbelievably clear day.

Speaking of 107.3 WPUR tonight I have getting a great signal from them up here in Bergen County....They are listenable pretty much everywhere I drove....While this is normal during the summer what's different this time is that I cannot pick up any other South Jersey stations (not even WFPG or WAYV which usually come in as well).

Probably because there are pirate stations on 96.7 and 95.1 in Newark, and every pirate station is on the air on Saturday nights.

I'm hearing the 87.9 pirate 50 miles away from Newark tonight.
