WTTS needs to flip to CHR

What if they changed it to a rock adult format like 100.3 The Sound in Saint Louis.. Its kind of a tripple A modern AC hybrid.. Drop The blues,, the Jam bands, and classic rock and focus on more hits... I guess this was somewhat suggested already.

Yes, let's take a station that does something a LITTLE different and change it! Good lord Clubber, you remind me of every consultant in a suit that has no vision. Leave the station as it be. YOU don't like, change the channel.

Its the only that plays any pop/rock that comes in good on my clock radio.. yes I have Sirius and the internet,, and if I listen through static I got WNOU and WBWB,, but I long for the days of the war between Power 92, 99/half WZPL,, Q-95 and 97 WBWB,, all were doing a rock 40 as I call it Format,, Q-95 was AOR instead of classic at the time,, WZPL was trying to do a rock top 40 format as well.

Putting personal reasons aside, it makes since to put a proven HOT FORMAT right now on a big stick that covers all ...NEARLY ALL of Indiana,, and parts of KY, OH,, and ILL...

It would reach Ohio better if 92.5 in Cincinnati wasn't hogging things.

I remember back in 1988 when 92.5 was WWEZ, I determined I'd probably be able to get WTTS at home occasionally if it wasn't for WWEZ. This discovery was one of the cruelest fates I've ever suffered. It was like somebody was deciding for me that I shouldn't be allowed to hear WTTS because easy listening was so much more important.

I was at WBWB in late '87 when Sarkes Tarzian reached an agreement to sell 92.3 to Barnstable. Sarkes Tarzian was going to buy the 96.7 frequency and put 'TTS on that property. Barnstable was going to move 92.3 to Indy with a country format (Nick Anthony was going to program it). The move was killed by an IU telecom professor named Herb Terry.

I STILL believe that had this move happened at the time, WTTS would have the highest cume in the state today. It would've been a huge powerhouse considering the growth of the format in the 90's.

and a catastrophe for Bloomington...what a horrible thing to contemplate

Yeah, Bandit. 92.5 should sign off so you can hear Bloomington. What was the FCC thinking?

This is just like how 92.9 in Lexington often blocked Z-93. Being able to hear Z-93 more reliably would have been very useful in the days when Q-102 kept butchering 'American Top 40'.

I'm going to be selfish here and say that I certainly hope they don't entertain this idea, because it is about the last station in this market that a white man over 40 such as myself can listen to for any length of time.

MY Dad likes it too, but you guys have wfbq and wjjk for similar music.. I heard a song on tts the other night IT was John Mayor,, talking about who says I cant get stoned.. surprised that promoting drug use wasnt edited,,, If it was a youth leaning chr,, that song wouldnt get played,, but im sure if its a hit WZPL is playing it. or has,, or will.. Why not at least make it a hit based AAA and drop the non hits. Ive heard plenty of AAAs and modern ACs that I liked.

That is John **Mayer**. As far as the evil drug references, CHR for years have had references to drugs, drinking, occasional violence and even fornication.

WTTS is a happy, profitable, privately owned AAA station. They will not fix what ain't broke anytime soon.

Plenty of hip-hop/chr songs refer to alchohol, drugs. drug dealing, and various sexual acts. The kids can't get enough of them.

I know All this, but as of late CHR and most rhythmic's are leaning Dance/pop LIKE RADIO NOW,, the worst thing you hear on Radio Now WNOU is Kesha,, But at least todays current music doesnt promote sex and drugs as much as it used to Prior to 2008 when the Dance/pop boom took over... You will propable still hear these filthy references to drugs, sex, and killing cops on WHHH< but they are a Hip Hop station,, not a rhythmic party station like Power 96 in miami.

Going back on some things I said.. I listend to WTTS for an hour last night and I liked most of what I heard,, perhaps they just need to drop the blues and the jam bands cause the mellow rock and 80s classics sounded great to me,,, There isnt near as much Blues and garage and jam bands as their used to be 10 yrs ago or more,,, I was surprised to hear Love Shack from the B-52s,, that really shocked me,, I thought I would tune in to see what my dad and everyone on this board thinks is so great about it,,,,, Honestly it isnt all that bad.

It all honesty it wasn't that bad?

So in other words, you started a thread on WTTS needing to flip to CHR based on something you heard or thought of the station ten years ago? If you are going to ramble on about what radio should do, know the facts or at least know the station. I'm guessing you don't work in the business, just spend a lot of time "listening" and doing dance pirate. WTTS is a station that has a unique edge to the programming. YOU are not going to like the "jam bands and blues, etc, etc" especially if you think it needs a CHR flip. To me that just says how plastic your music choices are. Like someone noted just a couple of comments up from this one, it is a privately held station that is doing just fine, and they don't need to change a thing. It's nice to have something stand out of the FM dial, as opposed to blending in like most stations, like another bloody CHR would. Just what we need, another station spinning Kesha 90 times a week. I think not.

I dont run Dance pirate anymore,, I ran out of open frequencies for one thing, and another,, I went to internet only,, but paid royalties,, so it wasnt pirate,, but I dropped that a few weeks ago cause my internet connection keeps dropping out....

ANYWAY I have to go back on my word,, I give WTTS 3.5 out of 5 stars,, which is great from me, seeing as I rate some Dance stations much lower than that. I wouldnt want them to be the kinda CHR that plays stuff like Kesha and Flo-rida, I want them to be CHR-ROCK,, which if you look at aol radio, they have a station that plays top 40 with an alternative spin,, So I guess I want them the way they are minus the Blues,,, I wouldnt fire the staff or anything, i would just tighten the aaa playlist and change the name back to Power 92,, and focus the adverts on not just indy,, but all of the Central and South Central markets its heard in.. WTTS isnt really an indy or Bloomington station based on Tower Location,, Its closer to Martinsville and Franklin than either of those cities,,, they should all be marketed too. Its not so much a format change,, just imaging more High Energy imgaing, and marketing to all the south central indianan cities and towns.. I really should have gave the station a listen,, they are pretty much a chr without the rhythmic,, with some 80s classics,, but I like classic rock, and 80s retro, so thats cool with me, and it fills a needed void. Just wish it was just a bit slightly more hitbased and had hot imaging. The last thing I want is for them to play Kesha and justin Beiber...
