WTTW 104.7 on the air.

The flip happened sometime in the 11 A.M. hour. I find it odd that it wasn't at the top of the hour as i checked for a while after 11 and when I checked about 11:50 it had already changed. Anyone hear the flip?

I tuned in after 12:30pm, and there it was La Gran D 104.7. Will they have live dj's, or what? What is La Gran D's toll-free telephone number? I know WTTW is ch. 11 in Chicago, Ill.

Right now they are locally running 10,000 songs in a row commercial free. They will have live DJs over the La GranD Network once they finish that.

Thanks for the clip. I guess it happened without much fanfare!

No fanfare. At 11:55am, right out of the WIIL commercial break...regional Mexican music.

Thanks Jeremy for posting the audio clip... The VO guy sounds like the voice that was on Onda back when SBS was running the triplecast on 927-5... CC

There is an article in this morning's Journal-Sentinel's ENCORE section on page 6b about WDDW-104.7, in case you would like to read it. Does anyone happen to know the address of WDDW? Are the studios located in the same building as WLIP and WIL?

Guess We will have to wait for the FCC Query

I agree it does sound like WTTW. Now people are saying WDDW, and one other person claims it is "officially" WDDU.

Just a check with the FCC FM Query website they still list them as WEXT. As we know how well the FCC is good at keeping things up to date. I'm sure it won't be too long before they get around to updating it.

Or you could call the station. I looked at Next Media's site, but as of Saturday, it still listed WEXT. I also think it sounds like WTTW. Maybe Cuprisin will clarify.

its WDDW-FM. That I can understand

they never properly pronounce the legal IDs on Spanish stations. Citys, etc

Re: Can't be WTTW.

I would be really surprised if it's WTTW.

The very prominent PBS TV station in Chicago is WTTW and has been for 50 years. I doubt they or the FCC would let a non-co-owned radio station so close to them have the same calls. Especially one which would be non-English formatted.

Knowing the operation of Next Media, this change was more a mandate from Denver.

Skip or Sky talking to Kira...

"Kira, S here. We're flipping the format of 104.7 to Spanish hits effective as soon as you can make it happen. That's it. Make it so." Click. Dial tone.

That should be an interesting place to work soon. Headbangers and Hispanics. I'll take a ring side seat and a row of tequila please.

This should effectively end Bob Jeffer's effort on WBJX and put that under-performing nuisance out it's missery.

If Nextmedia wanted to use the WTTW call letters, they would have to get permission from Window to the World to use the call letters. If WTTW allows NM to do so, then the FCC usually allows it too, but I'm not sure if WTTW on the TV side would have to add the -TV onto the call letters. I know on the FM side, the -FM would have to be added to the call letters since the calls are used on one spectrum already. Like in NC, there's a WKSC on the AM, then CC got permission from the station's owner to use the WKSC call letters for their Chicago station, the request was granted by the FCC as well, and the Chicago station has to ID as WKSC-FM Chicago. So if the WTTW calls are granted to NM, then they would ID as WTTW-FM Sturtevant/Milwaukee. Who knows what they really are right now, but I doubt WTTW in Chicago will allow it to go on a station they don't own.

Do you have an MP3 or wav file with the ID? I'd like to listen for myself.
