WTUE Reunion

Hey " Dan ".......on the WTUE Reunion in May; myself and some others
have a question for you ? We are not interested in Registering for "Facebook" or
whatever it is; we have all tried to gather the info about the reunion with NO
luck.....
Why do you have a locked door policy so to speak on finding the information ?
If you want old employees fo WTUE to come why not just list:
Time & Date of the event
Where ?
How much if money is involved ?
Maybe a phone number or E-mail contact would be nice ?
The URL thing just does not work ----- tried many times ....
Fish

Hey " Fish"... ;)

Here you go:

Date and Time:
Saturday, May 16, 2009 at 6:00pm

Location:
6199 Hemple Road
Miamisburg, OH

Email: kel.adkins (@) gmail.com

The event will be very casual and families are welcome. A baby sitter will be on hand, so the adults can have time together. There will be some food and beverages on hand, but for the most part it would be wise to bring your own. The event will take place on a two acre lot with room for tents or, if you like, here is a link to area hotels: http://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&u...1q-HQDA&sa=X&oi=local_group&resnum=1&ct=image

I apologize if the Facebook link turned you off. The idea for the reunion was created through connections made on the site. The Facebook event page also has many photos and audio from days gone by. I am glad you spoke up and look forward to meeting you.

Will Dan Patrick wear suit and tie or paisley and jeans? Will Chuck Browning wear a sneeze guard to protect his face from Jim Tobin's spit? Will B-man and his Harley friends provide security like they did at Altamont? Will Terry Dorsey spring for Hiney Wine for all? Will Kerrigan and Christopher wear their Bob and Tom t-shirts? Will ANYONE wear a T-105 t-shirt? :D

Ah yes, T-105. The "red headed stepchild" of AOR radio....

I remember when WTUE flipped from Top 40 to AOR. I was attending IBS (now ICB) when it was on Stroop. Went home one weekend and WTUE was Top 40, got back Sunday night and heard this thing called T-105. The flip actually happened in August 1975, but WTUE dates their anniversaries from 1976. There is a WTUE Top 40 aircheck of Dave Michaels on Reelradio www.reelradio.com...just enter "WTUE".

I remember that sad day as well...only thing that softened the blow was that WTUE's on air delivery had been in decline for several months prior. By the time it died, I was to the point where Q-102 was an acceptable substitute. What REALLY killed me was when the "Super Q" in Cincy stopped the superb high energy top 40 format in the Spring of 1973. I won the $1000 grand prize that signalled the end of what was left of the Top 40 format. I offered Cat Simon the money if he'd bring back the Super Q....he declined.

I know WTUE flipped sometime between about 3pm on that Friday and around 8pm on Sunday. Does anyone know specifically when they pulled the plug on top 40? When I was at IBS, Al Morgan came by to speak and I think Dave Michaels did as well, and I also remember touring the WONE/WTUE studios. I remember Al Morgan telling us about WTUE trying to go more adult female..and of course they flip to all 18-24 male, all the time. Around that time I was listening to WVUD quite a bit, but it was quite a shock that Top 40 WTUE was gone, even though most of the jocks were trying not all that successfully to do a laid-back show.

On the Dayton dial at the time, WING had shifted to Hot A/C with oldies at night, WHIO was for your parents' generation, WHIO-FM was BM, and you had WDAO as the "Stereo Soul Giant".
