WTVC Calvin Sneed to retire

http://www.adweek.com/tvspy/chattanooga-anchor-announces-retirement/186034

He says he’s going to write a book about bridges, a lifelong passion of his. Sneed spent the first part of his announcement talking about bridges before he got around to his announcement that he’ll retire on Tuesday, February 28.

Sneed started his career in 1969 while he was still in high school. He worked at WTVC once in the early 1970s, followed by stints at WATE in Knoxville and another job in Columbus, Ohio before coming back to Chattanooga in the 90s.

“I’ll still be around anchoring the news until later this year, and helping folks with consumer advice, a passion of mine for 30 of those almost-50 years,” he wrote on his Facebook page. “But these grand old, magnificent, graceful steel truss bridges are disappearing fast, and I’m on a mission to photograph them before they’re gone forever.”

Good luck to life after TV
