??? i rarely see anyone on here jump down anyones throat for not actually being in radio. and lots of people still listen to AM. i am not in radio and i have over 3000 posts  as for the station. sorry never heard of it.

I actually came across Terry (owner) not too long ago when I visited my old church. I meant to ask him about the station and didn't. I met him years ago and was amazed by him. Terry is blind but runs everything by himself. Amazing guy......If I run into him again, I will ask.

Never mind about WTWZ 1120. It came back on the air today. must have been for technical reasons. It sounds like he fixed the audio. It doesn't have that twangy "telephone" sound anymore. The bluegrass and acoustic music actually sounds pretty good now. Before it sounded like it was all midrange, kinda like an old Edison phongraph. The bass and treble is much better now. For those who haven't heard of it. WTWZ 1120 is in Clinton with 7500 watts, with preachers in the morning and bluegrass, gospel, and acoustic in the afternoon. The bluegrass covers of old rock songs are actually very cool. He plays bluegrass covers of Journey, Cream, and others. The owner Terry Wood is legally blind and pretty much runs the whole station by himself.

Terry just finished a major overhaul on the studio and transmitter. That's why it has been off the air for the past week and a few odd days. All new studio equipment, new processing, new T1 audio gear and new transmitter. I will say this about Terry - he won't hesitate to spend money to keep his station up to date.

You're right about Terry being blind and a one man operation too. It's amazing to watch him work in the studio.

Where does he get that kind of money? Most of the mom and pop stations these days are broke. He must be getting a lot of money from the preachers in the morning because he doesn't run that many commercials in the afternoon. I was listening this afternoon and I could actually hear some dynamics. I hope he leaves it that way and doesn't muddy up the audio like so many AM and FM stations these days.

WTWZ sounds like an interesting station.

I can't find a website.. does anyone have pictures or audio of the place??
