WTZR - Z Rock

ass gasket

What's up with Z Rock these days?

COMPLETELY AUTOMATED!!!

I hear from an inside source. True or not? heard the overnight voice tracks are over 3 years old????

And the "XL" satellite program beginning at 7pm ---- It REALLY SUCKS!!!

DIDCONNECT the request line --- that's money thrown away!!!

Whom do they think they are fooling?

All Z-Rock is for Bristol Broadcasting is a tax write-off. Almost no stopsets of which to speak, therefore how can it be making money? And what about Bob and Tom? If memory serves from my time at WRZK, they weren't nearly as cheap as having a local jock (nowhere near the same). All you hear during local cut-ins is Loki and a song. Maybe a few spots here and there. I just don't get its purpose except to flank WRZK and cut its numbers to help the other Bristol Broadcasting Properties.

But what do I know?

Ah Jason,my friend,Competitive Tri-Cities radio!!! Why do you think WAEZ runs Hot Ac too???? Keeps TFM from getting the big numbers that they don't deserve...right?

Not as much as you think. Your post was partially right. With a bare bones staff and no overhead.....plus spots aren't dollar a hollar like some other stations.......so I'd say some money is being made. Getting rich, I doubt. They simply don't have the overhead RZK has. I hear spots on the station, they just don't seem to play 10 of them in a row. Most of the stuff I hear is national/regional, and my guess is they ain't giving it away (knowing BBC). The other morning I head the local break and it went straight back to Bob and Tom without music.....and no PSA's.

You are right about Z being a flanker, though.

My first thought about asses post, was where has he/she been? Most third tier stations in a chain have NO STAFF!!! Hell, most second tier stations are bare bones. And some flagship stations have live mornings and are vt'ed from out of market the rest of the damn day!!! Anyone besides me see the bigger issue here? When all of us crusty radio people die off, who's gonna want to play radio anymore? If anyone has tried hiring lately, you probably noticed the lack of air talent willing to relocate for a radio salary.
