WUBE 50 years

Could you post that aircheck? I would love to hear it. Thanks in advance.

I will need to dig the aircheck out, I am not sure how to post it on here but if you send me a private message I can send the file to you by email as an MP3. Also there was montage they put together in 1999 for their 30th anniversary, it contained music clips and former DJs wishing the station a Happy 30 years of playing country. I had it on cassette tape at one time but lost it in the process. Maybe you can track someone who has a copy of that mobtage, I think it was 5 minutes in length

I have only done it once. If you are the full website on a computer, there are small headings beliw the "radio discussions" graphic, one of those headings is the private message heading. I have an iphone and on my iphone, at the top of the home page for radio discussions, it has a "connect" box if you want to access by Facebook, next to connect there are a couple of symbols, one that looks the pound sign. Clicking on one symbols should lead you to menu that will have messages in it. Then just select who you want to send the message. Really all I need is your email address to send the file but I do not think you would want your email visible on a thread

Does anyone have the montage they used for the 30th anniversary in 1999. I had a cassette and lost it when I moved. I would appreciate it . Thanks in advance.

Does anyone remember if there was a Scott James there at one time? Might have been 80's? Would have been overnights on the weekends.

I am not sure if he worked at WUBE but I do know he worked at WCLU in 1981, and later worked as Chris Shea at WKRC in the mid-80s as a weekend, and way back in 1970 or 71 he was known as Marty Marr on WZIP before it flipped from country to gospel

Steve Sommers was Harley Davidson. Hee hee. Don't forget John Crawford...the coffee drinking nighthawk. I think Jack Stahl was there late 60s too.

Thanks everyone for helping

I assume the 50 years looking at being celebrated in 1969 for WUBE is for its country format. As most know, WUBE actually goes back to early 1966 and had a rock format like its predecessor on 1230-AM and 105.1-FM, WCPO.

Things are starting to heat up for the WUBE 50th anniversary, according to Country Aircheck:

Hubbard WUBE/Cincinnati is celebrating 50 years on air and in the format today (4/1), having launched in 1969. Macon Music/Broken Bow's Jason Aldean is helping the station mark the milestone year with a concert at Rivebend Music Center Aug. 22. The official B-105 50th Birthday Bash will also include Kane Brown, Carly Pearce and Dee Jay Silver. Additionally, Cincinnati Mayor John Cranley proclaimed today B-105 Day in Cincinnati in honor of the landmark birthday celebration. "It's very rare for a radio station to remain in the same format for 50 years," says Hubbard/Cincinnati VP/MM Mike Fredrick. "For WUBE to celebrate this milestone, it's a testimony to the outstanding country music fans we have in the tri-state area. It also speaks volumes for the many dedicated professionals we've had on staff over these five decades." WUBE is opening up the station vault to play hits spanning the past 50 years today (4/1); stream the station here. Listen to Aldean announce the B-105 50th Birthday Bash here, and check out the WUBE birthday audio montage here.

I'm giving away my age here but I remember listening to the format changeover at midnight as 1230 WUBE switched from rock to "countrypolitan". Mike Scott had the last air shift on the rock format and concluded with the Boxer by Simon and Garfunkel. Mark John Holiday did the news at midnight followed by Jay Stone with the first air shift on the country format. Somewhere I have that format changeover on tape. I can't remember what my wife said two minutes ago but I can remember that format change 50 years ago:) Not sure they were simulcasting on 105.1 back in April 1969. 105.1 might have still been WCXL then.

Radio Bill I am the admin for a group on Facebook called Memories of WUBE Country Radio . I would love to get that aircheck if you find and would share it with me. You can pm me and we can exchange information . Thank you

WUBE

Radio Bill you are right. WCXL FM was on until October 1971 then all o the day until 7pm was simulcast. The FM had a request show until Midnight then the FM was automated.

I would like to thank John Kiesewetter for acknowledging me and my group Memories of WUBE Country Radio on Facebook and I would like to thank MartyThompson (party marty) for bringing it to this board's attention. Also a shout out to Grover Collins of B-105 for acknowledging my group.

Was the format flip to Country announced ahead....or just a shock for the Rock audience? I lived in Cincinnati through late 1965 and listened to the predecessor ...WCPO...regularly...I heard WUBE a couple of times on return visits in 1966 and 1967....but was shocked to land at the airport in Cincinnati in 1971....tune my radio to 1230 and find Country!!!
