WUBE, WGRR, WKRQ and WAQZ go to Entercom!!

WAQZ needs to hire the two best radio talents in Cinci, Matt Shiv and Mike Taylor, from WOXY, and get them in to revamp WAQZ. Might not be the biggest audience but it would be an improvement.

It would be nice if they could revamp the station and model it after Indie 103.1 in LA. It would not have to a corbon copy of the old WOXY 97x.

Shiv has passion and personality. That's more important than having another stereotypical jock voice.

If he's so great, why is he out of work?

What is your beef with WOXY? It was a great little station. For a long while it was the only station in Cincinnati worth listening to.

Strictly a matter of opinion, my friend. WOXY was run out of the owners' passion and was never about market share or revenue, but the fact that the owners ultimately folded should tell you and everyone else that the format - no matter how much you liked it - was not viable. People gotta eat, and passion doesn't fill the fridge.

That's so cynical, but yet so true... :'(

The Baloghs sold the station to retire after having the signal and a viable format for 23 years. The station WAS a business, and to say that revenue was not a concern is hardly true.

Absolutely, Matt. If WOXY had had a strong Cincinnati signal over the past 23 years, it would have given WEBN a serious run for its money as the leading rocker in town. That would have been a good thing for both stations, the listening public and radio in general. WEBN has phoned it in for years because they have no competition.

If WOXY had a "real" signal over the city of Cincinnati, they would have had to have a "real" format. They did OK with the college crowd and friinge listeners, but never would have survived in the Cincy market as a Cincy signal.
