WUCO goes back to True Oldies.

The True Oldies Channel is back on at WUCO(wqtt moniker) in Marysville.

What happened to the spanish music?
(does Union County have a hispanic population??? If so they must have not listened anyway.)

This is old news now and was mentioned on this board a few weeks back.

As of 4:30pm December 7th they are back on the air.

There are Still running their Nighttime pattern 24/7 so they have yet to get their transmitter site
fixed. At least we in Columbus can enjoy the Oldies in the daytime because their licensed daytime pattern shouldn't be heard in Columbus..

It was never about Hispanic music. Litton doesn't have anyone who can sell advertising, so he just took the best LMA deal he could get. The Mexican guys that were leasing the station couldn't make it, and Litton evedently had no other offers. So, he had to put something on, at least until he finds some other Mexican or religious group to do a deal with.

They seem to have The True Oldies Channel as an contingency plan when they can't find someone willing/able to LMA the station. That is why
The True Oldies Channel is back on the air.

now if they could find an fm frequency for it. Then again it gives us another am music station to listen to other than WMNI.

Supposedly there WAS a docket 80/90 FM grant for Marysville in the late 80s...but got moved to the Hilliard C.O.L as WBWR "The Brew"

So who took away Marysville's FM grant?
(can you say Clear Channel???)

Nitpicking here, but I *think* 105.7 became WFJX The Fox concurrent with the COL change. It was Channel Z before. (I'm trying to resist the urge to check Wikipedia. It's useful but also takes away the fun of discussions like this -- and of course it's not always accurate or complete.)

Lutton got the 80/90 freq in the late 80's in Marysville. He fired up the "Power Pig" and got nicked by the FCC for running too much power. Also for useing the "Power Pig" logo, since it was a copywrited log for some other station.

I dont really see the big deal here.
It's AM
It has a crappy signal.
Whatever the format is really not an issue.
Pandora rules anyway.

Well some people feel like listening to this format, and WUCO has been quite the revolving door recently. It's at least worthy of discussion. It needs to stay with oldies and start serving Union County again!

Indeed. Better music than anything on the FM. A well run format and I get it here on the westside near 270 all the time.

Real oldies (not the classic hit crap) need to stick around.

WUCO 1270 changed call letters to WQTT a few months ago.

Found this post on the Ohio thread. It was posted last September by the new GM/PD at WQTT. Hope he posts here again and gives us an update on
the new WQTT studios, ect.

I am too busy with the new WQTT station now, along with WRPO to re-activate the station. WQTT is building a window studio in "uptown" Marysville, with state-of-the art equipment. We will have a live morning show, local sports (football and basketball p-b-p) local news and weather, local guests and local radio voices. The studio is under construction at 113 So Main St..it's going to look big-time..we have a lot of work to do yet, but it's taking shape. Full time salespeople are already on the street. Gene

They're still sounding great, music and audio-wise. Signal into the northern and western areas of the metro is damn good for a station that high up on the dial; you can hear it on the east side also, not very well but it's definitely there. Keep it up!

They must be extremely directional. I live 11.5 miles as the crow flies northwest from the antenna farm for 1270, and I can barely get it. Once in a blue moon it will come in clear.

Wow Chad. That might explain the good signal well into Columbus. I assume you're behind the pattern because they don't send too much signal toward Detroit, but they must be putting extremely little power at you. Can you hear them at night?

What are the chances the new Oldies 93.3 will force True Oldies AM 1270 to change formats? Oldies 93.3 said they are centered on 70s oldies music where as True Oldies 1270AM appears to centered on 60s music.

I don't see a change. They really aren't competing head to head. 93.3 is clearly programmed as FM. True Oldies is more compatable to AM and how the format was when the songs first aired. I think despite 93.3, True Oldies is the right vehicle for 1270, especially if they zero in on the Marysville service component.
