There's more in the BN story. Apparently the judge ordered Vision Multimedia Group-WUFO Radio LLC to turn over documents and mandatory disclosures by deadlines that had been extended until January 2020. The information was not submitted and U.S. District Judge William K. Sessions decided the case based on their failure to comply. WUFO could have settled this for under $20K. Instead, they owe $498K.
"Such a severe sanction is warranted here," [Judge] Sessions wrote in his order. "Defendant’s continued failure to provide disclosures and defendant’s contention that mandatory disclosure is unnecessary because plaintiff 'is well aware of the two witnesses who carried out his termination' is an abuse of the judicial process.
Ouch! Never good to pish off the judge. Some very poor work on the part of the defense team. Still, this case will probably go to appeal... with a different attorney representing the defendant.
Lionel Hutz or Jackie Chiles?
