WUFX-DT 35 Vicksburg/Jackson is now WLOO-DT

I was just poking around the FCC website and noticed that actual channel 41, virtual channel 35 WUFX-DT now has call letters WLOO-DT.  The new call letters represent the current station owner, TougaLOO College.  I figured they would eventually change the calls on that station.

This change was effective as of Monday.

I just checked the station at 6:30pm. They had the my35 WUFX screen, but WLOO TOUGALOO was in the lower right corner. I suppose it will take some time to redesign the logo with the new calls.

Still not broadcasting in high definition. 34 and 35 are the last major stations in Jackson refusing to broadcast in HD

The HD situation at channel 34 will change when TBN takes over channel 34. When TBN gets finished they should have 1 main channel and 4 subchannels

Unless TBN does it differently in Jackson than they do anywhere else, all five programs on channel 34 will be in SD.

I don't know of any TBN stations broadcasting HD, since they prefer the multicast approach. But at least that leaves Jackson with just one SD that should be HD. In this day and age there's no excuse for any network affiliate of any size to NOT be in HD. It's just more of Mississippi living in the past. Which is not necessarily a bad thing except when it comes to great picture quality on the tee-vee!

One of the reasons I seldom watch CW 34 is because even though it it technically 720p HD all programming is SD. With letterboxing during primetime. Which shows up windowboxed on an HDTV.

I looked in on Channel 35 briefly. The old identity and the new identity is a little confusing to say the least. They ought to have at least done a few promos to introduce the new call letters instead of keeping with the old logo and the old identity. The folks at Tougaloo College associated with Channel 35 should have had someone to do a new logo while waiting on the FCC. This way they would have been ready on day one.
