Can anyone help me with the history and ownership of this station? I know it existed as non-commercial WUPI in 1963 as I've come across some old tapes of my grandfather reviewing movies that came out in that year and mentioned that the station survived on listener contributions. He also mentioned recently cancelling their Mutual affiliation so they could air more local programs. AFAIK it was on 105.5 and licensed to Lynn. Is that correct? My mother swears the studios were at Wellington Circle in Medford but I thought under the rules of the time the studios had to be in the city of license. Was that the case? Then, when and why did it become WUPY before going dark for good? Any help would be greatly appreciated, and you may contact me off list at shelcom at yahoo dot com. Thanks!
