WURK Elwood Sold To EMF

Not sure they can upgrade 101.9 much more, they would put there contour closer to Bonnieville's class B WKRQ 101.9, they would have to go directional or cut power to protect WKRQ.

I think if they did find a way to upgrade 101.9 any more they might start hearing them on certain sides of the hills around Cincy, then a result of complaints.

They likely won't simlucast 101.9 but will likely air the same EMF KLove programming... Looking at 101.7's signal they dont do well to the NE of Indy so 101.7 would cover that area (I think)...

101.9 is limited by WKRQ/Cincy and 101.7. The amount of power that they dropped to protect these 2 stations is insignificant. I wouldn't think any further WKLU upgrade is practical. Anyway, if there's 1 unanimous opinion in the market, it's that WKLU has an awesome signal as is.

Now the question is since WURK was used to boost the WERK Oldies format as further west as possible. what will happen now will Backyard see if they can up 104.9 any further if possible or find a new drop in for madison county to start a new station

Most likely EMF will just simulcast K Love - that's what they're doing on 90.5, the original Greencastle property, prior to buying Oasis' FM.

Why did Backyard sell it? (or did EMF approach Backyard?)

It would be nice if Backyard could buy 97.9 from Moody, and put WERK on 97.9...
Yes 97.9 may not have the best signal in Indpls, but it would be better than nothing...

Don't think that will ever happen, but it's good to dream.

At the end I said I didn't see that happening.

Backyard may has a 2 stations in 1 or 2 medium markets, 1 of there stations is a C in Jackson MS.
Yeah Moody would want a lot of money, not sure how many religious stations this area can handle before 1 don't make any money.

I guess it's time to bring bank the Song on 93.9 and give K Love and the rest the run for the money when they upgrade to 25k.

Don't see this happening either because they would stayed the Song in the 1st place...

101.9 is also bound to the north by the same frequency assigned to Roann (WARU.) Not surprised about Backyard's sale. The set up with 101.7 and 104.9 was meant to have two signals to sell. Separate commercial sets on each station. It worked in the beginning, but lately the inventory has pretty much been the same on both signals.

great just what my area needs, another bible banger stick.

all ready 20+ bible bangers with freqs around here we dont need anymore

Well, come to think of it, you want to sell one of your sticks but don't want someone competing with you for advertisers, what better solution than to sell to EMF?

Very very good point. And a testament (pun intended) to the fact that we have too many signals now, but the never ending battle cry is for more signals, more HD channels, more translators & more LPFM--anything that can be done to make sure that no commercially viable signals will remain due to fragmentation. When will the FCC figure out that we have no shortage of signals in this country?

Hi Bob,
There are towns that need an FM radio station that don't have one. But, those towns
aren't near here. Only three more Class A's coming to Columbus.

The reason we have all the consolodation we all love to hate is the FCC's insistence that every blank spot be filled with something...anything. As a result, markets like Logansport, IN that were just the radio station and the paper were inundated with competition from more signals, all undercutting rates.
