US-99 turned on their third multicast channel after having the entire IBOC signal off for several days and is now sending the main program down HD-3 as well.
Interesting note: I first noticed their IBOC off the air last Thursday night 10/13 and didn't notice them back until two days ago, and laswtw Saturday when they were analog only the jock on the air was promoting the HD radio signal.)
Switching back and forth between the main signal and the same audio on the multicast, you can tell oh-so-clearly how lousy the sound on the multicast is! (NOT US-99's fault, the entire low bit rate multicast scheme is flawed, there's nothing they can do to help that), especially the high end which has that all too familiar super-data-compressed springy-swishy sound. Kind of like all of the commercials on any Cheap Channel FM station due to the scourge of cascading codecs and the fact that they allow advertisers to send in low bit rate MP3s and consider them airworthy.
