WUSV 92.5 format flip

"Wide Open Country" has closed. It is now "Oldies 92, the greatest hits of the 60's and 70's". And, that's what I hear. A 70's song followed by a 60's song followed by a 70's song, etc. Morning show is the castoff team from WOLZ, B.J. Odom and Bill Stevens. Hmmmm.....
The market's demos cried out for an oldies station, and WOLZ's failed attempt to 'new' up their music left the market without one for several years. As this is the first day and this is being written at 7:42AM, it's too soon to know what the rest of the day will bring.
Oh, and typically bizarre Meridian audio processing, too.

...and I just heard a jock doing a live break! Good luck to them. Keep it live, local, and fun... and it'll work in SW Florida.

And their website remains (as of this typing) "Wide Open Country."

I've never thought to drive the signal when heading up from SW Florida to Tampa Bay. How far south does "our" 92.5 La Nueva get out?

Actually, I checked a couple weeks back. Both signals start to compete somewhere around Venice.

is wusv a beasely station?

No. It's Meridian.

That's weird....I didn't think USV's numbers were that bad. Oh well, seems like that market has to undergo a format change once in at least 2 years just as a 'formality'.

Speaking of audio processing and FMY radio, is 98.5 still airing that horrendous webfeed audio?? I was over there during the summer and the station ran nothing but dead air for like 2 days.

WELL 92.5 might not be the only country station disappearing wkis is airing the be here for the change 3-31 @ 7am but if anybody wants to listen to country you can go to WKIS.COM Its a great station while it lasts

Yes to the 98.5 question. And, I hadn't heard the announcement about 92.9...
