WUVM-LP Channel 4, the local Azteca America affiliate, has apparently added a 30-minute Spanish-language local newscast twice daily.
With a station whose signal doesn't even go five miles from their transmitter site, and whose cable carriage is limited to digital cable (Comcast 249/530), I wonder how they are affording this venture. I suspect they are outsourcing it to someone else out-of-town to produce (with a few reporters on the ground in Atlanta to report on stories).
If anyone remembers Georgia TeVe, the cable only (Comcast 150 - now another leased access channel) station partnered with WAGA to share resources. They went belly-up quickly (probably because they were only on digital cable).
The only full-power Spanish station in Atlanta, Univision O&O WUVG 34, does only one-minute local news updates, but that is it. They were suppost to start a full news operation in Atlanta.
