WVBA Frankfort

It was a short lived station that shared time with WRVG Georgetown. The station existed in the late eighties and had an urban format. There was a vague association with Kentucky State University, but eventually the university distanced themselves. Anyone else remember the details?

It's worth noting that the station still showed up the Lexington Birch ratings even after it signed off.

I don't remember much more than what you say..........turned the frequency over to Georgetown at 3:00 p.m. daily. Tom Casey (Latek) and Don St. John (WKLO circa 1978, WFKY circa 1985) were on the air. Housed on top floor of Hathaway Hall. I can't remember the name of the guy behind the project. On a non-com frequency, yet not a real "KSU station", I think it probably was grossly undercapitalized and eventually ran out of cash.

KSU leadership at the time uninterested in frequency (instead tried to get 103.7 that Leigh Allan eventually got to pair up with 1130). So it went full time to Georgetown, went through the Tom Martin phase (too bad that didn't work....good music mix there), and now is a repeater for K-Love.
