WVBG (AM/FM) in Trouble?

Their web sites have fallen down and the Facebook page has gone unresponsive. There is still programming on the air, though the AM side seems kind of hit and miss these days, at least from the locations I frequent. Did they just give up on the web?

anyone aware of who started this station, W say 1948?

I'll clear this up:

There have been quite a few technical challenges due to weather and power outages. We finally got a generator for the studio facility which will help a lot. As for the website and streams, until recently, all that was hosted in house at the studio. multiple power outages that depleted UPS batteries in one week did the web server in, That's why the site has been down. I had to get it back up and going enough to retrieve all data and get it moved to a better home.

Now that vicksburgradio.com points to another location, I found out that the app developer that is no longer involved had used vicksburgradio.com instead of stream.vicksburgradio.com to point the apps to... which made the streaming function of the ios and android apps cease to function. It also seems that tunein was using that url, so I've submitted updates to get that taken care of. You can find the streaming on the website and at shoutcast.com I know for sure is working. As for the mobile apps, I'm trying to find a developer to take over that project at least enough to update some back end info in the existing apps and develop new apps that are more compatible, as the current ios app does not work on ios11.

I will say that the station is not in trouble, just going through some challenges. As for the AM, main transmitter is down a PA card due to lightning and the backup transmitter needs a couple tubes that have become quite expensive. If anyone hears any programming issues, please notify [email protected], she will look into it.

The facebook page that is out there, was put in place by a previous employee that either can not or will not turn over control. Facebook is no help in the matter, as it was setup as a business page under his personal account, and as far as Facebook knows, he owns it so without cooperation, we cannot get control of it.

The above is just my observations. I'm just a contract engineer/IT/Janitor...

Wow, that sounds like a lousy time. I'm sorry to hear about that. I'm glad to hear that you are working through it. Thanks for the post.

Good news, website is back up at vicksburgradio.com I have not gotten access to the DNS for vicksburgv105.com and newstalk1490.net to setup the redirects.

streaming is back up, have verified shoutcast, tunein and our website. mobile apps not working, trying to work through the process of getting control of the apps and handing them off to a developer that can help maintain.
