WVII-TV 11:00 newscasts NOT live

NERW gives this story prominent play this week.

Imagine the embarrassment if a major story breaks after 6 PM -- and WVII/Fox22 are forced to rely on ABC News/Fox News Channel.

My guess is that this change will bring enough viewer complaints that the station will eventually go "LIVE" again at 11. Who ever heard of a newscast being pretaped hours ahead of time? Is Bangor really such a Ghost Town that nothing ever happens after 9:00? What an oddball move. Even if nobody complains, it is still a weird thing to do. News changes in an instant. Your on air product should reflect that.

Evidently, management doesn't care about news changing in an instant. I'm assuming they are just worried about saving money, by cutting work shifts by a couple of hours each day, and seing the employees home early. It seems they are throwing in the towel...and bowing in defeat to the NBC and CBS affiliates in the market. Imagine if WLNE pulled this "let's tape the 11:00 show" crap? Yes, they are the long-time 3rd place station in the Providence market, but they do try...and it shows.

Chuckydoll already mentioned it's on the Fybush site. I read the information there, then found the newspaper link on FTVLive.

What does everyone think about WLBZ 2 getting most of their newscast out of Portland? Some are complete simulcast.I'm in Portland and I find WCSH 6 annoying because I watch for local news and you can tell when it.s a simulcast in Bangor because there's way too much northern Maine news weather & sports.WCSH 6 must be doing something right because they're # 1,but for "local" news I would choose 8 or 13 in Portland.Isn't channel 5 # 1 in Bangor? It will probobly stay that way the way the other stations operate their newscast.
