WVIT-DT 35-3 NBC-US also WEDH-DT question

Just did a scan tonight and found 35-3 as NBC-US (Universal Sports)


Also, does anyone know if WEDH is going to do something with the -2, -3, and -4 signals they have open but empty?

I hear they're considering what to do with it. Apparently, the people in charge of the purse aren't sure if it's worth the money to put programming on those subchannels.

I saw a few minutes of this service at work while doing a rescan to add 30-3 to the TV with the secret antenna on it. I noticed much of it is a re-airing of Olympic trials and other footage that NBC owns. Some of the same in-house advertising for the athletes ran that I saw during July/August on Wal-Mart's HD channel a few weeks ago (pre-olympics). I don't think there's any outside advertising. I only saw a mention of them running E/I programming on Monday and Tuesday afternoons.

NBCU's owned-and-operated stations (including, for now, WVIT) have added or are in the process of adding "Universal Sports" to their digital tiers. The service was actually launched part time in July on KNBC-DT Los Angeles on their "News Raw" 4.4 DT service, in the run-up to the Olympics.

There was nothing in last week's release from NBC Local Media Group that indicated that affiliates would have access to the service, just the O&O's now.

The Universal Sports network was also added to WNBC 4.4 in NY this past summer. Although it is most likely going to be replaced in November with a 24-hour local news channel that WNBC has in the works.
