WVKO-AM now airing St. Gabriel Radio

As of Christmas Eve WVKO-AM (1580) began airing Catholic programming as a simulcast of WUCO (1270) licensed to Marysville but with studios and offices moved to Columbus a year earlier. Some local programming but a big chunk coming from EWTN Radio.

WFOT-FM 89.5 in Lexington serving Mansfield is also a repeater.

WVKO's signal is much better than the Marysville station and the Lexington FM...so they are promoting the station as "now on 1580 with increased coverage and clearer signal"

Some questions remain:

Did they buy 'VKO-AM outright or are they leasing it from Bernard?

They agknowledge both WUCO and WVKO in the new top of hour legal ID ...but no mention of WFOT-FM
(does WFOT id themselves or are they being dropped in favor of WVKO?)

The abandoned progressive talk format is now an internet-only station "Ohio Majority Radio"
....which is on the old WVKO site

It is the equivalent of a rent-to-own. St. Gabriel is in the process of getting the donations it needs to buy the station.

Whether it succeeds in its capital campaign remains to be seen.

WFOT is completely ETWN programming, they do not air any of the local content that WUCO / WVKO does. The old website before they changed to flaunt 1580, had the programs listing for WFOT 89.5 and stated they do not air any local programming.http://www.stgabrielradio.com/about/895programguide2007.html the old program guide for WFOT(found it in my firefox history) - apperently some pages of the old St Gabriel Site are still there despite the new very basic page for 1580. I would think they have a automation PC (or some device to ID) at the WFOT-FM site near Mansfield that id's the station...
