I know this isnt radio related, but NBC 33 is promoing the start of a nightly news cast in 2007. Is Baton Rouge able to support a third newscast ratings wise? I wonder if they are recruiting any familiar faces from 2 or 9? Any thoughts?

WVLA to start nightly news in 2007?

It's not really by choice. NBC basically threatened to take away the affiliation if they didn't bring back a newscast.

2 and 9 could use some competition.
For years 33 has done nothing but air NBC programming.
At least people can identify 2 and 9 and know at least half a dozen personalities on each. All anyone could say about 33 is that "......uh......They're NBC."
The last time that they did anything that anybody noticed was when they swapped affiliations with 2WBRZ back in the early 70s.
They've been a sad excuse for an NBC affiliate for decades.
Baton Rouge deserves better.
Their signal is so bad, if it wouldn't be for cable most people wouldn't know they exist.
I've also heard about their legal and management and $ problems.
