While the market is saturated with sports stations (imagine, 610 WIP with a 0.1 rating with the CBS sports feed) I still wouldn't be surprised if NBC tries to find an affiliate for their new network, probably on AM. They list WBCB as an affiliate for sports updates only. The fact that they put Randall Cunningham in PM drive makes me think they would at least want a local affiliate for that show. WBCB seems pretty committed to a full service variety music & local talk/brokered shows format. WNPV runs the Yahoo sports network (formerly Sporting News Radio) nights & weekends, maybe NBC could sign them to run Randall Cunningham afternoons along with the blocks already doing sports.

WVLT Format Change

What a coincidence here, someone puts out an April Fool's rumor about WVLT flipping to all sports and I just heard a rumor about a local area station adding a morning sports show. The station is not carrying a sports format so this will be interesting. I can't release the details but I believe this morning show will impact Arbitron ratings.

hi josh, just a question, where do you get your info from. you always come up with rumors or seem to know what is going to happen, but it never does. what is your radio background, you think you know alot, but you really dont. i dont want to sound like a jerk, but some of your topics or replies are absurd.

I know the Andy Kortman show was brokered too, but at least it made WNJC sound like a real mainstream radio station for a few hours a day, the show sounded professional like the final WPEN morning show holdover it was. Some of the old WPGR jocks that still buy time on there sound ok too like Jimmy Parsons, but basically most NJC shows sound like the amateurs they are, especially talk shows. The brokered shows on WVLT usually sound a little more polished.

I believe he left WVLT altogether to concentrate on the WNJC show. (For a while, the Sunday afternoon slot on WVLT was taken over by Wee Willie Webber).
Anyway, he often talked about how much work was involved with producing that morning show on WNJC. He did everything himself. There was also a time when the show was simulcast on 1180 in King of Prussia and another station in the northern suburbs, but that ended. He left WNJC March 1st for WSNJ in Bridgeton.

I remember about 10 years ago when I was working at WXCT in Southington, Connecticut I met the Sunday morning Italian Show program host when he came in to pay the station. He told me not only did he make enough money from sponsorships to pay for the air time (4 1/2 hours a week), but also a decent amount of money to bring home. (He did not specify how much and I didn't want to pry).
Speaking of WXCT, Marc, you've done some brokered radio on there yourself! ;D

True, but my show was done with the station on light bulb power and because of that I couldn't even get people to sponsor my show for $4/month even though with internet streaming my show had the ability to reach several hundred rather than just the people in the WXCT parking lot.

This thread should be killed. The original post was a cheap hoax that has been proven to be false. The creator of this topic should be put on probation for falsafying an article from a legitimate news site and all of these subtopics should be discussed in a new thread. WVLT is the last resort for those of us who still love real oldies and out of respect for the station and its listeners, all participants should move on.
