WVNJ local in the afternoon again?

No its not music but wvnj-am has another afternoon talk show. This time though it is not a newstalk program but a sports program. The talk host is an local guy Greg Marotta from wayne who from his bio worked as an sports agent and talk show host for nfl draft on espn. His show airs 3pm-5pm and takes on mike and the dog. As he says that he wont" talk down to the listener". while i rather they play big band music on wvnj i know that is not happeing so hopefully wvnj will decide to be more local and get their ratings up.

The only reason he is on the air is that he is paying for the time (he got a write up in the Daily News). This is not an attempt by the station to get ratings - its money pure and simple.

The fact is if you own a small AM station, you're not going to get ratings no matter what you do. So you might as well broker your time to the public. I see WWDJ is about to do the same thing.

I expect we'll see a lot more of this in the future. Radio companies will get out of the content business and become mainly towers and transmitters. They'll subcontract the content out to advertisers or content providers who pay for their time.
