WVOL 1470AM

What is the deal at WVOL? Now they have the same personality (Jim Starr) working morning and afternoon drive, plus a weekend shift. Dean Schoenfeld has 11A-1P with his talk show "The Truth", which seems out of place on an AM Urban Oldies station.

Over the past three years WVOL laid off their night and midday personalities. When an afternoon jock took the reins they left after a short time (Commodore Reid and R. Anthony). I assume WVOL owner Mr. Heidelberg also runs John Henry's Restaurant, because that appears to be the main advertiser. Thoughts anyone?

Rumors are that WVOL might become an Air America affiliate.

I don't see them going to a full "satellite/talk format". First, John's son, Ron is the P.D. and they have a big following with the music, according to him. As a former WVOL empolyee from years ago, I've seen the station go through many changes, but the music format keeps coming back as being sucessful for VOL.
